Medical Education
The American-Italian Cancer Foundation's (AICF)
support of Medical Education will be dedicated to the area of
pancreatic cancer in the short term. Beginning in
2009-10, AICF will award a Medical Education grant or
collaborate in joint fundraising activities on behalf of a
2010-11 focused group workshop in the United States or Europe
for scientists working in pancreatic cancer or relevant
areas. The workshop will feature a well-defined, timely,
and relevant subject and make a unique contribution to progress
that cannot be achieved at the annual meetings of professional
societies.
AICF will make short-term scientific exchange awards,
beginning in 2009-10, for researchers to travel to another
laboratory during 2010-11 to learn a specific technique to
enhance their own research program or programs in the area of
pancreatic cancer. Awards may also be used to invite an
expert to the grantee's laboratory.
AICF is working with a limited number of institutions and
organizations to raise funds to support Medical Education
programs or projects in other cancer areas, with AICF and its
partner sharing planning, marketing, and public relations
responsibilities and opportunities.
